I’ve tried one session of traditional yoga that was conducted in an air-conditioning room.  I do feel weird about it as I hardly perspire at all.  As what I am aware of, most yoga outlet doesn’t equip their room with an air-contidioning.  The most they have is a rotating fan.  Does anyone know what is the actual norm for a yoga room?  I am in the midst of converting one of my room into a yoga room.  But the room has only air-con in it.  If air-con is a no-no, I have to quickly think of the alternative, i.e. to grab the discount ceiling fans that is on sale right now.

Hi Yogajess,

Found this very nice article from Yoga Journal http://www.yogajournal.com/lifestyle/2769. Hope it brings inspiration for your yoga room.

most of the yoga classes in fitness centre having aircond on, i practice yoga at home, but without turning on the fan or aircond, just open the sliding door and music on, it is quite enjoyable.

i m now doing yoga in a fitness centre and the rooms are airconditioned. I still perspire like when I was at yogazone…but it dried up pretty quickly though.

a correct yoga practise is do it in a NON air- cond room. must be in a open air /open all the windows & door while practising. this is my yoga teacher taught me. she said doing yoga in a air-cond room has reverse effect on our body which do harm more than good especially ‘breathing method” done in the air cond room- big no no.i was fr yogazone& FF, after i chg to a personal qualified yoga teacher who had 40 yrs teaching exp ( one to one cls with her now), i realised many things i learned & did fr YZ was not correct.hope you can find a right teacher or try to join a small group cls. thats really helps.

i’ve just returned from gaining insights as well as completing my TTC from India and I would say yoga practise is best in the open during the morning, there u will b able to absorb all the surrounding energy as well as the fresh air.. but i doubt in m’sia with the haze going, u’ll ever get that.. but preferably in the open as yoga is all about the connection of oneness between your mind n your body
good luck.. 🙂
