Hot Yoga is also known as Bikram Yoga in Sanskrit. Ideally, the room was heated to 40°C  with a humidity of 40%.  A vigorous yoga session at this temperature promotes profuse sweating which believe will help you to lose weight, get rids the body of toxins and also makes the body very warm and therefore more flexible.   But sad to say, my facial skin can’t afford to loose all it’s moisture as they get hydrated very fast.  No amount of serum moisturizer can help unless I go for treatment like oxyen mask or microdermabrasion.  I would say, Hot Yoga is not for everyone especially if you have problematic skin like me.

Yes. Is not for every one. Not even for me. Please use a proper method for those who want to lose weight.

Go to hot yoga a few times a week doesn’t help, it merely caused lost of plenty of water and minerals in your body.

The original purpose of Bikram Yoga not meant for lose weight. It just some of the gimmick use by the commercial yoga centre to get more business.

jess is having so many problems, please respect others, Bikram Yoga of course can lose weight, when you do not know much, please do not condemn others yoga business, do you think you can say it is gimmick? how could you prove it?

Bikram doesnt equals hot in sanskirt … Bikram Choudry is the guy who patented his 26 sequence and postures for his hot yoga style.

It is to replicate the weather in India as well as help warm up the body and allows the body to go deeper in their yoga practice.

It also helps one detoxify through sweat like in asthanga yoga.

Kevin is right, Hot Yoga was created to avoid using Bikram Yoga name thus no need to pay for the royalty, and at the same time not limited to just 26 asanas.

I really worried Urban Yoga will close shop very soon. This news (rumours) is spreading among the members. Howlah? I already paid RM88 X 3 months. Hope that the new management manage to sustain its business. If so there will be many victioms who already paid RM 264. Aiya. So “sui”lah.

I do not attack Bikram yoga personally. Is nothing wrong with it. I just saying those centres out there using ‘lose weight’ as a gimmick (there are).

If your centre or any other centre you come aross who didn’t , then congratulation to you.

I should not eleborate more.

End.

Just choose a lose weight method that make you feel great and benefit your body.

Peace. =.=*

Blessed selves,
According to Ayurveda, the brain should never be heated. When you go for a detox program (Samkya in Bangsar is great) they put you in a ‘sauna box’ with your head out. You sweat with out frying your brain:)

Bikram’s hot yoga has healed the backs of many of my Western friends. They practiced with certified Bikram instructors. Western joints are structured differently then Asian joints. Not so lose.

Please know that standard ‘body image’ is controlled by multi media conglomerates. The image that they sell for the female body is not based on reality. The media image is a starved pre-pubescent boy. Personally I think they are feeding the world population Pedophilia. In the 7 years I have lived in Asia I have seen only a few (in Billions) that actually need to lose weight for health concerns. Thinking for yourself is power!

If you believe Bikram Hot Yoga can lose weight, you will be sadly wrong. Say example, before the class you weigh 52 kilos and after the class you weigh 50 kilos, they claimed you have lost 2 kilos. The 2 kilos you lost is mostly the water you have lost. After the class you feel thirsty and you drink water, your weigh will come back to 52 kilos. So do not believe what they say.
